Switzerland isn’t just popular with cheese and chocolate, but Switzerland is also famous for its best hiking spots. It is considered the hiker’s paradise because the country is almost covered with towering peaks and glistening glaciers. Every hiker will not want to miss any mountain to hike to see what it offers, from its beautiful mountains to deep blue lakes. The Swiss invested in hiking trails where you could walk from one end to another.
The hiking season in Switzerland often starts in June after the snow has melted enough and lasts until late September or perhaps October, depending on the weather. It’s crucial to remember that this is also peak tourism season in Switzerland, so it is essential to make reservations for your lodging service. Fall is also a great time to go trekking because there are fewer visitors, and the leaves are starting to change. However, you should be prepared for all types of weather throughout this season, mainly snow and severe temperatures.
In Switzerland, you don’t have to worry about which destination is best for you because choosing which mountain to hike is the hardest. Hikers will have a lot to write on their list because from North to South, and there is the best hiking spot you can enjoy. Below is a list of the best trekking spots you can enjoy in Switzerland.
Hiking Spots In Switzerland: The Matterhorn
The Matterhorn is at the top of the list of must-do hikes in Switzerland, and it is unquestionably among the best hiking in Europe. The view may be a sight to see, but it is a challenging trek for anyone who wants to enjoy it. Though it is a challenging trek, hikers with training and knowledge of the mountain choose to submit it. This hike also runs parallel to the Swiss-Italian border. Due to its pointed top, the Matterhorn is one of the most iconic peaks globally, second only to Mount Everest.

Climbing the Matterhorn trail takes 9 to 12 hours and is exceedingly steep in places, requiring hands, a helmet, attachment to a harness and rope, climbing boots, and an expert guide in most sections. Climbing the Matterhorn may not be for the faint-hearted, but the experience is like no other when you are at the top of it seeing its spectacular view.
Bachalpsee
Bachalpsee is a six-kilometer easy hike that allows you to spend more time at the top of the mountain than on the trail. It’s ideal for individuals who want to see spectacular sights without having to get up at 3 a.m. to go on a hike. A vast lake’s surface often mirrors the peaks that run across the valley, which is why so many photographers go from all over the world to witness it.
Bachalpsee is located in Jungfrau Region, where many trails are found that range from easy to complex. The Jungfrau region attracts some of the best photographers, adventurers, mountaineers, and skiers globally. It’s also one of the most popular tourist destinations in Switzerland, and for a good reason: the scenery is breathtaking.
Mount Titlis
Mount Titlis is one of those trekking trails in Switzerland where hiking in the winter is recommended. Because Titlis is a 3,000-meter mountain, there are numerous routes to choose from, with varying degrees of difficulty, but it is generally considered one of Switzerland’s top treks.

Hikes range from a half-hour stroll to a three-hour trek, which is even better in the winter with stunning backdrops of native pines blanketed in snow from head to toe and cabins perched among Mount Titlis huge ridges. The shorter hike is one of the more accessible hikes in Switzerland.
Monch, Hiking Spots In Switzerland
Monch is one of Switzerland’s most prominent mountains, rising to 4,107 meters above sea level. Monch is a beautiful mountain tucked among others that should have made a list, but I included it for a reason. Monch has become a popular destination for ice climbers, rock climbers, and ardent mountaineers in the Swiss Alps over the last decade.

Switzerland has some pretty fantastic huts and cabins across the Alps, but the hut at Monch, notably Monchsjoch Hut, is a house built on the side of a cliff. The Guggi Hut is one of Monch’s most beautiful and ancient huts, hanging precariously on the edge of a cliff, as is Monchsjoch Hut.
Santis to Altman
Santis is a famous Swiss peak with amazing views from its 2,502 meters above sea level vantage point. The most spectacular vistas surround you, as are most sites in the Swiss Alps, not because of the altitude but because of the sheer grandeur and beauty that you get to see.

The climb from Mount Santis to Altmann is genuinely one of the most unique in the Alps. It requires a general degree of fitness and can be challenging at times. Mount Santis has the Lisen Ridge Track trail that allows you to hike from one peak to another with reasonable ease. This can only make a trail in ideal weather, which means no snow or ice. The hike’s central feature is a thin ridgeline that weaves and bends its way along one of the most perilous-looking pathways you’ll ever see, yet it’s not as horrible as it appears.
Hiking Spots In Switzerland: Schwarzhorn
Schwarzhorn is the highest peak above the town of Grindelwald, which is a demanding but straightforward trek. If the weather is good at the top, Schwarzhorn will provide you with spectacular 360-degree views.

Schwarzhon requires a reasonable level of fitness and appropriate mountaineering equipment; however, you can hire a mountain guide in Grindelwald if you don’t have the necessary equipment. Expect to be 6 to 7 hours on the mountain, covering around 8.5 kilometers. It’s also a good idea to check weather forecasts before climbing Schwarzhorn, as it wouldn’t be fun to arrive at the top only to be engulfed in a cloud in hiking spots in Switzerland.
