Discover Philippines: Laguindingan Airport and the most recent Travel Information
Mindanao is one of the three major islands of the Philippines, located on the southernmost part of the country. It is the home for 27 provinces and 33 cities, that are famous for its scenery, culture and people. In the past, travelling in this island was not convenient, but thanks to recent developments, such as Laguindingan airport transportation to your favorite southern destination became easy!
What is Laguindingan Airport?
Laguindingan Airport, also known as Laguindingan International Airport, located at Barangay Moog, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental, is the second busiest and one of the main airport following Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Mindanao. It serves as the primary entryway to the provinces of Misamis Oriental and Lanao del Norte, the cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro, and the rest of Northern Mindanao in the Philippines.
Laguindingan airport replaced the Maria Cristina Airport in Maria Cristina, Iligan, and Lumbia Airport (now Lumbia Airfield) in Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro. 1.6 million passengers can fit in the airport’s 7,184 square metre (77,330 square foot) passenger terminal building each year.
Moreover, this airport went to an expansion due to air transportation demand, through the airport project called the Laguindingan International Airport PPP (public-private partnership), thus transforming it to an international gateway, making travelling from other countries to the island of Mindanao without passing by the Ninoy Aquino International Airport possible.
What are the available flights in Laguindingan Airport?
Laguindingan Airport typically holds 21 departure flights each day. Additionally, a few of the direct flights routes are as follows:
Cagayan de Oro to and from Iloilo City, Puerto Prinsesa, Caticlan, Manila, Cebu City, Mabalacat, Iloilo, Tacloban, Dumaguete, and Bacolod
In addition, Cagayan de Oro has international air connections from Laguindingan Airport to and from Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Toronto, Tokyo, Hanoi, and Sydney.
