A Brief Background on PMA
The PMA stands for the Philippine Military Academy. It is the premier military institution in the Philippines and serves as the training ground for future officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). The PMA is responsible for developing young men and women into competent and ethical leaders who will serve in the Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, and Philippine Air Force.
Established on December 21, 1936, the PMA is located in Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City, Philippines. It offers a four-year Bachelor of Science program, known as the Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Management (BSLM), which combines academic education, military training, and character development.
The primary goal of the PMA is to produce graduates who possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and values to become officers in the AFP. The curriculum includes academic subjects, military training, physical fitness development, and leadership development. Cadets undergo rigorous training and education, preparing them for the challenges they will face as military officers and leaders in the defense of the Philippines.
Graduates of the PMA receive a Bachelor’s degree and are commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the AFP. They go on to serve in various roles, including combat units, staff positions, and specialized fields within the military. The PMA is highly regarded for its commitment to producing disciplined, competent, and patriotic officers who uphold the principles of honor, integrity, and service to the nation.
