Traffic Hotspots In Baguio To Avoid A Stress-Free Travel 2023
How often have you waited impatiently for traffic to clear when it was backed up? If you commute every day, you must be all too familiar with the long lines of cars that just don’t seem to move for 10-minute intervals at least a few times more before you reach your destination.
It already happened to you, and it will probably happen again whether you like it or not. For all drivers out there, being stuck in traffic is akin to a rite of passage. Whether it’s because of construction, bad weather, a collision, or just regular traffic, one thing is for sure: it can be very monotonous.
Baguio City continues to be a popular tourist destination in the Philippines, as seen by the increase in visitors throughout the holiday season. But when visiting the Summer Capital of the Philippines, you might reconsider on bringing your car Baguio City’s traffic has been worse ever since it welcomed unlimited tourism.
Busiest Road in Baguio city
The City’s road system can typically handle all the vehicles that are registered there, plus a small number of extra tourist vehicles, but not the kind of volume that has been building recently.
Since the holidays are anticipated to be the same, a temporary traffic plan should be implemented to improve the efficiency of road use. This also implies that the city administration should begin planning to conduct a new, expert traffic and transportation study to determine whether any long-term technical initiatives could be implemented to reduce traffic congestion on a more consistent basis.
Baguio to Launch Online Traffic App
Mayor Benjamin Magalong highlighted the need to “bite the bullet” for the meantime amid traffic congestion in the city. The increase of tourists for the Holiday seasons, and when the drop in temperature encourages people to arrive in droves, is anticipated to worsen the traffic issues in the Summer Capital.
Baguio City will soon develop an online web application, according to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, that would give drivers traffic information and navigational aid to help reduce traffic in Baguio City hopefully this 2023.
According to Magalong, the traffic innovation application created by his office’s Management Information and Technology Division will inform drivers of alternate routes they can take to get to their destinations without using congested roads, as well as which roads they should avoid because they are closed or inaccessible. Also, it will include other helpful details like the location of public utility jeepney terminals in the city and fundamental traffic regulations like number coding, motorcycle routes, truck bans, and other regulations currently in effect in the city.
A QR code or an URL that will be made public before deployment will allow users to visit the website directly and access the online traffic help application. The City Engineering Office’s Traffic and Transportation Management Division and the Baguio City Police Office’s Traffic Enforcement Unit, according to Magalong, have been consistently putting policies into place and modifying current procedures.
The safest route to Baguio City
Kennon or Marcos?
The quickest way to go to Baguio City is via Historic Kennon Road, which has a low toll for vehicles. Several waterfalls, pine trees, and mountain sides covered in wild sunflowers may be seen as the road winds through Bued River Canyon.
Because of its gradual turns, the route is narrow but manageable. Because you can turn onto Loakan Road at Camp 7 as a detour to enter Baguio City if your car is deemed to be “underpowered,” I advise taking Kennon Road.
While you can see the South China Sea when you take the Marcos Highway, which recently underwent some renovations and now has a shortcut entrance just a few hundred meters further north from the Kennon Road Junction in Rosario, La Union, as opposed to continuing to the original entry point at Agoo, La Union, or the alternate one further up in Pugo.
Although Marcos is longer than Kennon, it is wider, smoother, and “all-weather,” and on a bright, sunny day, it is occasionally wonderful to pull over and pause for photos in the regions where the clouds are lower than Marcos Highway. But, afternoons might bring on a lot of fog.
It is much safe to take the Marcos Highway when going to Baguio City because it is more reliable.
Things to do while you’re stuck in traffic
Even if you have a lot of patience, traffic delays might still make you anxious. Let’s try a different strategy as it seems there is no getting away from this vice of city life!
- Bust out your Karaoke chops
We’re not Adele, Seal, Cher, or Beyoncé, yet, it doesn’t stop us from singing along. Also, although it hasn’t been proven scientifically, your voice sounds better when you’re stranded in your automobile.
- Make the person/people in the car next to you laugh
With a friend, this is much simpler and more enjoyable. See if you can make your traffic-jam neighbor chuckle as well as get their attention without making it seem like you’re trying. Double points if they roll down their window to ask what you are doing.
- Switch it up with a podcast
Try starting a new series while you’re watching a podcast or listening to music. Who knows? You might come across one that you adore or come across one that you can debate. It will undoubtedly pass some time either way.
- Clean up the general area around your seat
There is usually a decent probability that there will be some garbage or food that can be picked up and put in a bag. The tricky part is to keep in mind to toss the bag in the trash and not let it accumulate and turn into actual waste.
- Phone a friend
The misery enjoys company! For the length of the traffic jam, call a friend or relative you can talk to hands-free on the phone. Catching up with people is always a nice thing!
- Take a nap
You can’t sleep while driving, therefore it’s not a good idea for people with their own cars. Nonetheless, if you’re riding in a public transportation, try to get some shut-eye. Take a quick sleep and stretch a little if you think you’re coming close to your stop.
Nobody hates to be stuck in traffic, but hopefully these tips can help you at least make the most of the situation. The most crucial piece of advice, though, is to pay attention to the vehicles around you. Although these tips may be enjoyable to do, but driving is always your first priority.
Visit and Travel to Baguio City
Baguio is known for its cool weather, pine trees, and fresh produce. However, the city is also home to a thriving real estate industry. Due to its location in the Cordillera Mountains, Baguio has attracted developers who are looking to build luxury homes and resorts.
In recent years, there has been a boom in construction, with new developments all over the city. As a result, the real estate market in Baguio is incredibly competitive.
However, this boom has also driven up prices, making it difficult for many local residents to afford a home in the city. Despite these challenges, Baguio remains an attractive destination for those looking to invest in property.
