University of Mindanao
Rightfully the first item on this list is the largest private university in Davao. In fact, it has two campuses in Davao City. University Of Mindanao, commonly known as UM, bearing not just the province’s but the region’s name, has been awarded with the Center of Excellence when six of its alumni were able to be part of the top eight spots in the Criminology Board, the seventh spot in the CPA Licensure Examination, and 10th spot in the Licensure for Teachers (LET).
Needless to day, the said degrees are some of the most sought after courses in this university. Up to this day, University of Mindanao is known to produce brilliant students that can compete to the ones attending the top universities in the metro.
University of Southeastern Philippines
University of Southeastern Philippines, commonly referred to as USEP, was one of the top schools in Davao City. From 2011 to 2013, it was part of the roster for the 200-300 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking for Universities in Asia. It rose to instant fame as it was recognized along with the top prestigious universities in the Philippines such as De La Salle University, Ateneo De Manila University, and University of Sto. Tomas—being a state university in the province at that!
University of Southeastern Philippines has three campuses in the Davao Region. Some of the top courses offered in the university are English, Forestry, and Information Technology.
University of the Philippines Mindanao
University of the Philippines Mindanao (UP) will surely not be not part of the list. This particular campus is one of the latest constituents of the UP system which encourages students in promoting the culture of the people of Mindanao.
Aside from the top of the line quality of education that University of the Philippines has, this school is also popular and sought after because of the many campus events that all students can participate in. Some of these events include Freshmen Night, Torch Night, Speak Up, Sinews of Syllables, and many more.

Ateneo de Davao University
Hearing the word “Ateneo” already rings a bell to many Filipinos, wherever it may be in the country. It is because Ateneo is known for its long history and prestige. Many celebrated people in the country are known to have attended this very university. The National Hero of the Philippines, Dr. Jose Rizal, attended Ateneo Municipal De Manila which is now known as Ateneo De Manila University. The former president who rose Davao to fame, Rodrigo Roa Duterte, also came from Ateneo.
Its counterpart in Davao City—Ateneo De Davao University (ADDU)—are among the few universities in the Philippines that are still run by a religious organization, Society of Jesus. Despite being located in the province, ADDU still managed outrank hundreds of universities in Asia in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) last 2015 and 2017.

University of the Immaculate Conception
Another school that is considered one of the best in Davao City is University of the Immaculate Conception. This school offers a complete education curriculum from pre-school to college. It is also one of the few schools that is awarded by CHED with a Center of Development for IT, Business Administration, and Education.
University of the Immaculate Conception is well known for having state-of-the-art school facilities that students use such as grand stadiums, clinical laboratories, research centers, and IT Facilities in its two large campuses.
Philippine Nikkei Jin-Kai International School (Nikkei Jin-Kai)
Nikkei Jin-Kai is a private non sectarian international school. It is the only school in Davao City that teaches culture in all their education curriculum levels from pre-school to college level. For those who want their children to learn the Japanese language, this school is the top choice with its Japanese Language Program. Those who want to study the Japanese language exclusively can also enroll here.
The school originally started as a school for Japanese descendants that resides in Davao City. Now, it grew to become an institution for students wanting to learn the Japanese language or finish their education. Today, the school is recognized by the Department of Education (DepEd) and already received proper accreditation status from official institutions.
Available programs in this school are Accountancy Business and Management, Humanities and Social Studies, General Academic Strands, and a couple of vocational schools.
Philippine Women’s College Of Davao (PWC)
Philippine Women’s College of Davao (PWC) is a respected institution with a long history. This college opened in 1953 as one of the outside campuses of the famous Philippine Women’s University (PWU) in Manila.
PWU’s tertiary education used to an exclusive all-girls school butwas reformed during the 1970s. The current Vice-President of the Philippines, Sarah Duterte, is an alumni of this school along with other notable people in the country.
